A wreck at the intersection of Hwy. 84 and the Bypass near the entrance to the Covington Mall claimed the life of an Andalusia woman early Friday afternoon.

Joyce Sightler, 75, of the Stanley Community, was pronounced dead at the scene, APD Assistant Chief Mike Bowlan said.

Sightler was driving south and turning into the mall entrance when a Mazda truck struck the small white truck she was driving. Her truck was overturned, and hit a third vehicle stopped at the light and exiting the mall parking lot.

Both the driver of the Mazda truck and a passenger in Sightler’s vehicle were transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital, Bowlan said.

No other information was available late Friday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, two women were injured in a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 29 North and Dunns Bridge Road just after 12:30 p.m. Friday.

Alabama State Troopers report that Bridget Wallace Veasey, 37, of Andalusia, and Rosaland Lee Moye Burnett, 33, of Dozier suffered moderate injuries during the crash.

Despite earlier reports, the driver of the third vehicle, Parker Wallace, was not injured in the crash.
