RV spots in hot demand at Lake Jackson

It’s the hottest event in Florala – and they’re not just talking about the temperature.

Today will mark the finale of the June 24th Masonic Celebration activities, and scores of people will descend on the city streets to enjoy the parade, which begins downhill at 11 a.m., and the arts and crafts on the shores of Lake Jackson.

Jim Vickery at the Florala State Park helps to oversee possibly the hottest commodity in the city – RV sites at the park’s campground.

“This is the time to be in Florala,” Vickery said. “We are full up except for about three sites, but those will be gone before you know it. People book their spots a year in advance, especially considering that this weekend and Fourth of July weekend fall in the same week.

“I do have a few primitive camp sites left, though,” he said.
