When the new Mr. Mattress store opened in Andalusia Wednesday, it was a homecoming for owner Jeffery Douglas, who says he’s excited to be back where he grew up.

“My family’s always been in the furniture and mattress business,” Douglas said Friday. “We opened here two days ago. It’s good to be back home.”

Douglas said the plan for his business has included opening an Andalusia location since he cut the ribbon on his first store in 2011.

“When it all started, we wanted to grow one store a year and we’ve been able to accomplish that,” Douglas said.

The growth of Mr. Mattress began in September of 2011 with Douglas’ first store in Enterprise. In September of 2012, he opened his second location in Crestview, Fla., and is right on schedule with his plan with his third opening in Andalusia this month.

Douglas said his company plans to open more stores in the future, but right now, is focused on establishing his Andalusia location.

“We’re wanting to open more stores,” he said. “But Andalusia was important. I wanted to get back here to my hometown.”

And what Douglas said he is offering people in town includes the largest selection of mattresses around, as well as free delivery.

“We have two delivery guys, and Jo Ann Jones in the store,” he said. “We brought a total of four jobs with us.”

Douglas said Mr. Mattress sales brands including: TempurPedic; Serta; Spring Air; and Sealy.
