What inspires you?

Inspiration can come in many forms.

Through word of mouth, books, music or even from the movie or TV screen, inspiration can lead to something great.

This week, spring sports began in earnest for our local baseball and softball teams. Basketball is still in full swing with Straughn’s boys and girls playing at the regional tournament today, and LBWCC closing out its regular season within a week or so.

Now, I know that I’ve written about the throng of spring sports and how players need to take advantage of their time right now.

I’m not going to repeat myself, whatsoever.

My general point is that it’s fascinating to see what players use to help inspire or pump themselves up prior to games.

The most popular, I think, is music.

Now, I’m not a music scholar, but I know an inspirational tune when I hear it.

Last summer, the new Superman film, “Man of Steel” was released to the public and from it, one can be inspired by not only what they see, but what’s heard.

World-renowned composer Hans Zimmer put together a score that to this day, gives me chill bumps every time I listen to it.

What better way to get ready for a game than to listen to this soundtrack? Try it out and let me know if it works.

Throughout all of my time here, I’ve come across teams watching inspirational films to get ready for big contests.

For a movie buff like me, it was a good sight to see and I was always curious to see what their film of choice was.

NBA superstar LeBron James, from what I learned, read the “Catching Fire” series throughout his play in recent seasons, notably 2012.

See.

Whatever works, works.

Let me ask you this.

What inspires you to do well in a game?

While you’re at it, inspire others to do great things on the court or on the field.
