Straughn wins Friendship tournament

Straughn barely beat Pleasant Home during the Covington County Youth Archery Association’s Friendship Tournament last weekend.

The Tigers scored a 602, while the Eagles tallied a 601 to come in second place.

In third place was Red Level with a 570. Andalusia came in fourth with a 546.

Top scorers for Straughn were Madison Ward, Brock Hammett, Triston Cobb and Mitch Frasher; for PHS, Hunter Cheshire, Dylan Bradley, Grant Barton and Cash Martin; for RLS, Jacob Williams, Walker Simmons, Matt Cook and Jacob Pate; and for Andalusia, JW Jones, Tim Clark, John Harper DuBose and Kat Tennyson.

Individual placements for the tournament were:

(K-3rd Grades)

1st Place — Walker Simmons, RLS, team score of 146

2nd Place — Bryce King, PHS, team score of 130

3rd Place — Jacob Pate, RLS, team score of 128

Division 2

(4th – 6th Grades)

1st Place — Grant Barton, PHS, team score of 144

2nd Place — Hunter Stephens, Straughn, team score of 140

3rd Place — John Harper DuBose, Andalusia, team score of 140

2nd Place — Madison Ward, Straughn, team score of 158
