Retiring teachers have about 200 years’ experience

Andalusia City Schools will lose approximately 200 years of teaching experience with the retirements of six teachers and one paraprofessional, effective at the end of the current school year.

On Monday, the board accepted retirement resignations from:

• Eric Searcy, AMS, 8th grade science teacher;

• Jenny Searcy, AES, 1st grade teacher;

• Karen Pass, AES, Title I teacher;

• Delores Boyd, online experience teacher at AHS;

• Jennifer Rogers, AES, 1st grade teacher;

• Vickie Ptomey, AES, reading coach; and

• Sharon Sims, AES, paraprofessional/P.E.

The board also accepted the immediate resignation of AHS science teacher and coach Teresa Herring, who is joining the U.S. Army.

In other personnel action, the board:

• Transferred Julie Hardy from fourth grade to first grade at AES, effective Aug. 2014.

• Hired Trevor Driver as a 4th grade teacher effective Aug. 2014.
