Florala pitcher Lily Ritzel struck out 21 batters had one walk to help lead the Lady Wildcats to a 5-4, nine-inning victory over W.S. Neal Tuesday night.

Ritzel’s strikeout number will be placed in the Alabama High School Athetlic Association record book.

The Lady Wildcats celebrated senior night for their only senior, Hailey Maxey.

Keadra Avan hit a solo home run, and Samantha Hammac hit a double to lead FHS.

Florala plays Wicksburg at 3:30 p.m. on Friday to start pool play at Elba’s tournament.

The most strikeouts recorded came from Eufaula’s India Kornegay, who strauck out 36 in a 15-inning game at the South Regional.

Ritzel joins eight others who have recorded 21 strikeouts in a single game.

In other softball action, Pleasant Home couldn’t get anything going in the hitting department and wound up falling 1-0 to Elba.
