Every day for the next two months, there’s something on Andalusia’s summer workout calendar for the football players, whether it be a simple word of encouragement or what the day’s workouts will entail.

The Bulldogs, along with the rest of the county’s football teams, started summer workouts bright and early Monday morning.

For AHS, the weekly regimen is Monday through Thursday with Fridays off.

Each day, there is a routine that the Bulldogs go through, which includes a warm up period, a make ‘em quit period and a time where the team splits into two groups — one in the weight room and the other in the facility.

With every switch, players have time for a water break.

Starting June 9, the Bulldogs will also focus on an individual workout routine each day along with other drills in addition to the routine.

Mondays are for squats; Tuesdays are for speed training, special teams and 7-on-7 work; and Wednesday and Thursdays are for bench press and power cleans, respectively. There are also sprint work etched into the schedule for each day. As the summer progresses, each week of running and lifting gets longer and heavier as the athletes grow stronger as time gets closer to the start of fall practice.

Andalusia has the week of June 30-July 4 off for the holidays, and July 24-25 off for the sports week. Players are encouraged to workout on their own, especially during the first week of July.

The Bulldogs will compete in the Wiregrass 7-on-7 on July 11, and at the Huntingdon 7-on-7 July 28-29.

For Opp, the Bobcats will workout from 8-10:30 a.m. Monday through Thursdays in June.

Mondays are for squat and offense; Tuesdays are for speed, agility, mental conditioning, flexibility and defense; Wednesdays are for bench and defense; and Thursday’s are for power cleans and offense.

In July, the Bobcats will workout Monday through Friday until July 21. Activities each day in July are the same as they were in June, except for Fridays, which will be reserved for special teams work.

Pleasant Home’s workouts are twice a day (8 a.m. until 10 a.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. only on Wednesdays).

Red Level started June 2.

The Tigers will workout Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. RLS is in the weight room on Mondays and Wednesdays and on the practice field on Tuesdays.

Straughn will work out Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays in June at 6 a.m.

Skills sessions are held Monday night at 6, and Wednesday mornings at 9.

First day of fall practice is Aug. 4.
