Brittany DeLong has joined the newsroom of The Andalusia Star-News.

A recent graduate of Troy University, DeLong concentrated her studies in journalism, advertising and marketing, earning a bachelor’s degree in print journalism.

At Troy University’s student newspaper, The Tropolitan, she was a business manager and a member of the sales team, and helped launch The Cardinal Rule, a game-day publication developed for Troy University football.

She also interned at The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, La., and has worked in the restaurant industry.

“We are pleased to have Brittany join our newspaper team,” Star-News publisher Michele Gerlach said. “She has a good understanding of our industry, and a great attitude.“

DeLong is a resident of Goshen and frequently visits Andalusia for barrel racing, an activity she enjoys during her spare time.

DeLong looks forward to becoming an active member of the local community, and is interested in being a part of local volunteer organizations.

She began work on Friday. Despite efforts of other Star-News staff members to get a commitment from her on the eve of the 2014 college football season, DeLong maintains that she is the “SEC Switzerland. However, she said, she is a die-hard Trojan fan who bleeds cardinal, black and silver.
