On Wed., Sept. 17, 2014, at 8:57 pm officers with the Andalusia Police Department responded to a traffic accident involving a motor vehicle and bicyclist on Antioch Road between Sutton Road and Dannelly Boulevard.

When officers arrived on scene they found a female bicyclist had been struck by a passenger vehicle on Antioch Road. The victim, whose name is not being released at the family’s request, was transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital by Advanced EMS. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured in the accident.

The name of the driver is not being released at this time. This accident remains under investigation by the Andalusia Police Department.
