The 55th annual Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo is still five months away, but “God’s Not Dead” singers Newsboys have signed to be the Sunday act at the event.

Opp Mayor John Bartholomew confirmed the group would hit the stage at the annual event as the headliner for Sunday’s show.

“There’s going to be a wonderful light show, as well,” Bartholomew said. “It’s going to be an awesome, exciting performance. We signed the contract Tuesday.”

The Newsboys will perform a three-hour performance with two other bands on April 12, 2015, at 7 p.m., at Channell-Lee Stadium.

The group has been one of the most popular bands in Christian music over the past 20 years.

They are famous for songs such as “God’s Not Dead,” “We Believe,” “Live With Abandon,” “Shine,” “Breakfast,” “Take Me to Your Leader” and “Entertaining Angels.”

The band currently consists of former DC vocalist Michael Tait, keyboardist and bassist Jeff Frankenstein, guitarist Jody Davis and drummer Duncan Phillips.

The group has released 16 albums and six have been certified gold.

The 2015 Rattlesnake Rodeo will also feature the main headliners of every year – the Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake, as well as plenty of food and vendors.

The event will kick off April 11, 2015.

Other entertainment acts have not yet be awarded.
