City announces rodeo headliner

Country music star Gary Allan will headline the Saturday entertainment at the 55th annual Opp Rattlesnake Rodeo.

Allan is famous for songs such as “Man to Man,” “Tough Little Boys,” “Nothing On but the Radio,” and “Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain).”

Allan’s first album “Used Heart for Sale” was released in 1996.

In November, the city announced that “God’s Not Dead” singers Newsboys signed to be the Sunday act at the event.

Last month, Audio Adrenaline, John Tibbs and Finding Favour were added to the line-up.

“It’s going to be an awesome, exciting performance,” Mayor John Bartholomew said.

The 2015 Rattlesnake Rodeo will also feature the main headliner of every year – the Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake, as well as plenty of food and vendors.

Vendors applications are currently available on the event’s website, opprattlesnakerodeo.com.

The rodeo also includes a beauty pageant, the Rattlin’ 100 car race held at South Alabama Speedway, snake races, buck-dancing contests, children’s activities, karaoke contests, and more.

The event will be held April 11-12, at Opp’s Channell-Lee Stadium.

Beginnig Monday, 1,000 advance tickets will be available at Opp City Hall for $10.

Officials said the tickets are first come, first serve.

Tickets will be $20 at the gate.
