The Andalusia Bulldogs plated seven runs in the second inning to knock off the Opp Bobcats 12-5 Tuesday in Opp.

The Bobcats looked like they would strike first when Eli Johnson hit a one-out triple off the Bulldogs starting pitcher, Hunter Earnest, in the bottom of the first.

Earnest got the next two batters to ground out to keep Johnson sitting on third.

In the top of the second inning, Riley Graham reached on an error to start the inning.

Todd Wright followed Graham with a single, and Will Jones loaded the bases after being beamed by a pitch.

The Bulldogs broke onto the scoreboard first when Taylor Griffin drew a bases-loaded walk that plated Graham.

Devan McDuffie drove in Wright with a single to the shortstop, and then Chase Hopkins made the score 3-0 with a single that drove in Jones.

With two outs in the inning, Earnest doubled to center field scoring Hopkins and Brayden Burkhardt in the process.

Graham came up for the second time in the inning, and knocked in Earnest on the single to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead in the first inning.

The Bobcats picked up a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Gunner Wise and Parker Bracke scored on a one-out single from Britt Buckelew.

The Bulldogs added to their lead in the top of the third when Jones led off the inning with solo home run.

With two outs, the Bobcats committed an error that allowed McDuffie to score from third.

The Bobcats started to claw back into the game with a three-run bottom of the fifth to cut the Bulldogs’ lead to 9-5.

Maverick Ladson scored the first run on an error, and then Lane Foster doubled to center to plate Walker Messer and Johnson.

The Bulldogs final runs came in the top of the sixth inning.

Wright singled to drive in Burkhardt.

Griffin drove in the final two runs when a ball that was mishandled in the outfield led to Earnest and Graham scoring.

With the win, the Bulldogs move to 3-5 on the season, and the Bobcats fall to 8-4.
