Straughn High School senior Rollin Kinsaul grew up with dreams of playing college football, and now those dreams are coming true for the senior as he signed to play quarterback for the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm.

The senior quarterback has grown up in the Straughn community, and being around a successful football program like the one at Straughn has helped build Kinsaul into leader and role model on and off the field, he said.

“Ever since I was able to pick up a football, I knew I wanted to play college football,” Kinsaul said. “Being around coaches like Coach (Trent) Taylor and Coach (Ray) Wilson has been great. They are two of my biggest role models. They taught me how to really love the game, and just being around them makes you a better man.”

Kinsaul said that his family has always been his biggest supporters, and that moving away from them won’t be an easy thing.

“Having a family that is so close and always here for me, it’s pretty special,” Kinsaul said. “When I’m in Oklahoma and get homesick, I will just think about them and how I’m living my dream. They are all really excited for me. Glory to God for all of this. It’s like a dream come true.”

There were a few schools for Kinsaul to choose from, but SOSU felt like a great fit for him he said.

“I talked with a few other schools,” Kinsaul said. “But from day one Southeastern Oklahoma treated me the best. It is a really good fit for me since they offer PT school, and that is what I want to do.”

As for playing time, Kinsaul said the Savage Storm will have a senior starting next season, but that he will have a chance to compete for the job in the next few seasons.

“They have a senior coming back that is really good, so I won’t be playing right away,” Kinsaul said. “The coaches are high on me though, and have told me that if I put in the work I will have a chance to be the starter.”
