A Covington County Jury acquitted an Opp man who was charged with harassing an Opp city employee.

Michael Elmore was originally charged with harassment from an incident involving Opp City Planner Jason Bryan after Bryan and Elmore’s father had a disagreement over an abatement of a property-owned by the father, Defense attorney Rod Sylvester said.

During court proceedings, Elmore testified that Bryan pushed his father and he merely got between the two to prevent further trouble.

Sylvester said that he and Elmore are happy with the jury’s verdict.

“I think the evidence showed that Michael reacted the way anyone would seeing their father pushed for no reason,” he said. “We both appreciate the jury’s attention and work in reaching the verdict.”
