Approximately 300 people have signed up for Andalusia’s Community Christmas and there is one more opportunity for those who need assistance to sign up, organizer Larry Avery said.

“We expect to pick up more at the sign-up,” he said. “We are anticipating we will get 100 or so more at our late registration.”

Late registration will be today from 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m., at Andalusia Elementary School.

Avery said angels are available for adoption at Andalusia Regional Hospital, CCB Community Bank, Darby’s, JCPenney and Walmart

“Our angels are out,” Avery said. “Scott Wright has been working to get those out this week.”

Avery said it’s vital that the community step up and adopt children to make the event a success.

“We depend on the community to help us make this a success,” he said.

Avery said that the presents are due to the Kiwanis Center on Dec. 4-6.

Drop off times will be from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., on Dec. 4 and Dec. 6 and 8 a.m. until noon on Dec. 5.

Those who need to participate in Thursday’s late registration must present the following documents at the time of registration:

• your picture ID (For the parent registering their children, i.e. driver’s license, school ID, work photo ID, etc).

• Birth certificate for each child. Only parents and legal guardians are allowed to register their children. No grandparents, aunts or other individuals unless they are legal guardians with documentation of guardianship.

• A Social Security card for each child or legal document with their social security number.
