The Andalusia Pee Wee Bulldogs were just to much for their opponents to handle as the Bulldogs cruised to a Big Iron Bowl championship Saturday in the second annual Big Iron Bowl hosted by the Andalusia Youth Football League.

Andalusia and McKenzie squared off to begin the Pee Wee action, and the Bulldogs placed themselves in the championship game with an 18-7 victory over the Tigers.

The Bulldogs were led by strong rushing attack of Michael Hourel and Omria Latimore.

In the second Pee Wee game, Florala and Brewton meet up to decide who would go on to face the Bulldogs in the championship game.

Florala started off strong, but quick scores from Brewton left the Wildcats in an early hole.

The Wildcats continued to show heart and fight, but the rushing attack of the Tigers was just to strong for the Wildcats to overcome.

Brewton continued to pour the points on the board and earned a trip to championship game with a 32-7 victory over Florala.

In the championship game, the explosive combination of Hourel and Latimore helped propel Andalusia to a 38-14 win in the Big Iron Bowl championship contest.

Hourel and Latimore each scored touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ win.

The Bulldog defense was prepared for the Tiger rushing attack and Brewton just couldn’t get anything going before they were shut down by Andalusia.

Andalusia’s Pee Wee team were the final champions crowed on Saturday. Florala won the Tiny Mite division and Andalusia won the Termite division.

The three championship teams each earned a trophy and a $500 check donated by Big Iron Environmental, Inc.

“We were very pleased with the attendance,” AYFL president Dodd Riley said. “Everything went well thanks to all of the efforts of all the AYFL volunteers. Overall, the tournament was a huge success.”
