Lady Bobcats fall to Elba

The Opp Lady Bobcats kept the game close in the first half, but Elba was able to pull away for a 59-33 win Tuesday night in Opp.

MaKayla Crenshaw paced the Lady Bobcats in the opening period with 4 points. Millicent Nolin and Frankie Vickery each added 2 points, but he Lady Bobcats trailed 12-8 at the end of the first period.

Vickery got things rolling for the Lady Bobcats in the second period as she knocked a trey to make the score 12-11.

After Elba tacked on a basket, Nolin dropped in a pair of free throws to leave the Lady Bobcats trailing 14-13.

A quick rally by Elba put the Lady Tigers up 20-14, but The Lady Bobcats weren’t going to give up.

Ariyon Hightower put in a layup and then 6 straight points from Taniyah Thompson made the score 24-22 with one minute left until halftime.

Elba added a couple of baskets and took a 28-22 lead into halftime.

Vickery got the a 3-pointer to start the Lady Bobcats’ scoring in the third period, but then 12-0 rally by Elba left Opp trailing 43-25 midway through the third period.

Opp rallied back with points from Thompson, Christian Hinton and Haylee Brundidge, but Elba held a 45-31 lead heading into the final period.

In the fourth period, the Lady Bobcats had a lot of trouble getting past the stiff defense the Lady Tigers employed.

Thompson got a layup to start the Lady Bobcat scoring in the fourth period, but they still trailed 47-33.

It was the only basket the Lady Bobcats would manage in the final period.

The Lady Tigers continued the strong second half push and sealed the deal in the fourth period.

Thompson led the Lady Bobcats with 10 points.

Vickery ended the night with 8 points.

Crenshaw finished with 5 points and Nolin added 4 points.

Also scoring for the Lady Bobcats were Brundidge and Hightower.
