Hillery Lamar Burkett

Mr. Hillery Lamar Burkett, age 76, formerly of Red Level, passed away at Southeast Alabama Medical Center on Tues., Jan. 26, 2016.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thurs., Jan. 28, at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Mr. Burkett is survived by his half sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Tommy Watt of Newton, Ala.; half brothers, Hillery Burkett and Robert Burkett; several nieces and nephews, including Linda Chong, Stephen Berry, and Sonya McLaney, with whom he was very close and loved dearly; seven great-nieces and nephews; his former wife and very good friend, Carolyn Lawrence of Gainesville, Fla.; and a special “brother” and caregiver, Charles Kirk.

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Evelyn and Jack Stephens; father, Hillery Burkett; and brothers, Johnny Stephens and Byron Burkett.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Watt, Tom Watt, Charles Kirk, and Justin Phillips.
