Two men are behind bars for drugs after being caught by the Opp Police Department.

According to Opp Police Chief Mike McDonald, Thursday evening around 8:35 p.m., a D-shift officer observed a male individual acting in a suspicious manner in the Marathon Store located on U.S. Hwy. 84 East.

“When the individual exited the store, the officer attempted to contact him and the subject attempted to walk away,” McDonald said. “When the officer did contact the individual, subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Jamie Ray Richardson.”

Richardson, 38, of Kinston was charged with possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, possession of marijuana second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In a separate incident, at approximately 10:05 p.m., a D-shift officer was conducting routine patrol on West Cummings Avenue when he observed a 1995 blue Buick Century being operated in an erratic manner and running off the road way.

“The officer stopped the vehicle and made contact with the vehicle operator identified as Jonathan Drew Williams, 22, of Opp,” McDonald said.

Williams was arrested for possession of marijuana second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.
