Four local men are behind bars after Opp Police located them behind a local business early Monday morning and found drugs.

“While speaking with the individuals, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from their person,” OPD Chief Mike McDonald said. “Officers asked the individuals if they had marijuana on them and one of them admitted to having some at his residence.”

McDonald said that officers contacted the Drug Task Force and a permission to search was granted to search the individual’s residence.

“During the search, officers located two ounces of marijuana, several baggies, scales, methamphetamine and three handguns,” he said.

McDonald said a DTF agent arrested:

• James Tony Hattaway, 66, for possession of marijuana second and possession of drug paraphernalia;

• James Austin McCart, 18, for possession of marijuana second and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Robert Eli Hattaway, 18, for possession of marijuana second and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Bryan Nathan Blair, 39, for possession of marijuana first, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McDonald said all four are from Opp and were booked into the Covington County Jail.
