Reader responds to columnist's techniques

Dear Editor,

I think we’ve found her!! Saint Stephanie!!

I would like to know a little more about her before I get too excited.

According to her article, she has the answer to child behavior. Did this come from experience? If so, was it her child or someone else’s?

Has she worked with children at a daycare? Is she approved as a foster parent? Does she have any degree in child behavior?

These are just some of the questions that need to be answered before we start calling Stephanie Nelson or any one else to trust our offspring too.

I DO NOT believe in shaking a child nor do I believe in beating on one. However, I think there are times when talking and timeout doesn’t work, a spanking is not only needed but appropriate. This doesn’t mean taking any action if your mad at the child. Reasonable adults can and must control their emotions when correcting children.

Have you ever been in a public place where some child is screaming?

I have seen Fathers, but mostly Mothers that have children who are having tantrums-they completely ignore them and go all over the store shopping -- all the while the employees and other coustmers are subjected to behavior not of their making, and should not be subjected to it.

I know Stephanie Nelson means well and I wish she could take all the mistreated children in Covington County into her home and care for them. That's not possible. Maybe an alternative would be for her to start some kind of program to counsel these children, along with their parents.
