An early morning shooting Tuesday at an Andalusia residence resulted in the death of one person and an injury to another person.

According to Andalusia Police Chief Wilbur Williams, Jr., the incident occurred approximately 5:45 a.m. at 316 Dixon Street, at the intersection of Barton Street.

Williams said E-911 received a call about a shooting, and when officers arrived on the scene, Judy Hildreth Miller, 58, was found with a gunshot wound to her upper torso, and was lying in the rear yard of the residence.

She was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency officials arrived, according to Williams.

Williams also discovered a second victim, James Jerome Phelps,47,

who had suffered a shotgun wound to the right arm.

The male victim was transported by the Andalusia Rescue Squad to Andalusia Regional Hospital, and Phelps was released later that afternoon.

Patrol officers were able to develop leads, which resulted in the apprehension of Kenneth Kevin Henderson, 36, of 213 Opp Avenue within minutes of the shooting.

Henderson will be charged with one count of capital murder and one count of attempted murder. He is currently being held in the Covington County Jail without bond.

He said it appeared that two shots had been fired, and that possibly one blast may have gotten both victims.

One shot had apparently been fired into a window and the other at a side of a door.

Williams said a meeting with the District Attorney's office will take place to determine an appropriate charge, and said the case could possibly be a capitol one.
