Both of the performances will be held at the LBW Junior College at the Dixon Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday night, the participants will compete in fitness and poise, and the overall winner will be announced.

The theme of this year's program is "Dear Diary: A Day in the Life," and will depict the experiences of a Junior Miss participant as she prepares for the competition.

Participants in the local program are eligible for $10,500 in cash tuition scholarships.

These scholarships include those won by the Junior Miss and the four alternates, as well as the category winners.

In addition, scholarships from Troy State University are available based upon the participants' grade point average and SAT scores.

"The 16 girls participating in this year's program are energetic, hardworking and compatible," said Nancy Hammett. "The talent of the girls, combined with the exciting music and choreography and the colorful costumes, sets and lighting should provide two nights of entertainment for the audiences."
