Members of the Andalusia Sting Rays were among the more than 1,400 young swimmers from Alabama who competed at the Alabama State Championship Swim Meet.

The Andalusia Sting Rays had 32 swimmers out of 54 compete at the state meet.

The 13- and 14-year-old boys' 200-yard freestyle relay team earned a seventh-place finish with a time of 2:15.88. The members of the team are Blake Nevill, Myles Hollingsworth, Gary Griggers and Justin Moody.

Myles Hollingsworth earned a 22nd-place finish in the boys' 13- and 14-year-old 50-yard backstroke. Gary Griggers finished 24th.

Jake Hollingsworth had one of the best finishes among the Sting Rays with a 10th-place finish in the boys' 15- to 18-year-old freestyle. Micah Rider finished 15th.

Micah Rider also earned a 10th-place finish with a time of 30.65 in the 15- to 18-year-old 50-yard backstroke. He also finished 12th in the 50-yard butterfly. Hollingsworth also earned a 14th-place finish in the 100-yard individual medley and a 12th-place finish in the 50-yard breaststroke. Lane Rider earned a 17th-place finish in the breaststroke.

Tyler Moody earned a 10th-place finish at the state meet with a 40.47 time in the 11- and 12-year-old 50-yard freestyle event.

Christina Christensen earned a 13th-place finish in the 9- and 10-year-old 100-yard individual medley with a time of 2:02.40. She also earned a 19th-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly.

In the 8-and-under age division, Courtney Aucoin finished 15th in the 25-yard breaststroke. Aucoin also finished 21st in the 50-yard freestyle. Anna Bay McCord finished in 16th in the 25-yard breaststroke and earned a 12th-place finish in the 25-yard backstroke.

Erin St. John finished 23rd in the 11- and 12-year-old 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 48.03. She also earned a 23rd-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke.

Lindsay Weaver finished 18th in the girls' 9- and 10-year-old 50-yard backstroke.

Alicia Brooks finished 16th in the 15- to 18-year-old 50-yard breaststroke.

Starla Jones finished 16th in the 9- and 10-year-old girls' 50-yard freestyle. She also earned a 17th-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly.

In the 9- and 10-year-old 200-yard girls' medley relay, the team of Christina Christensen, Tally Morrow, Jessica Smith and Maggie Jones earned a 21st-place finish.

In the 13- and 14-year-old girls' 200-yard medley relay, the Sting Ray team of Alicia Riley, Lindsay Jones, Morgan Watson and Caitlin Rider earned a 17th-place finish.

Evan Brooks earned a 15th-place finish in the 9- and 10-year-old boys' 50-yard butterfly.

Sara Beasley took home 17th-place honors in the girls' 11- and 12-year-old 50-yard butterfly.

Myles Hollingsworth finished 11th and Justin Moody had a 12th-place finish in the boys' 13- and 14-year-old 50-yard butterfly.

Alicia Riley finished 16th in the girls' 13- and 14-year-old 50-yard backstroke.

In the boys' eight-and-under 100-yard freestyle relay the Sting Ray team of Luke Rider, Tom Cook, Jacob Peek and Christopher Smith earned a 19th-place finish.

Two Sting Ray relay teams competed in the girls' 9- and 10-year-old freestyle relay. The team of Lindsay Weaver, Tally Morrow, Haley Moody and Starla Jones finished in 21st place. The team of Morgan Carpenter, Maggie Jones, Christina Christensen and Jessica Smith finished in 24th.

In the girls' 11- and 12-year-old 200-yard freestyle relay, Becca Cory, Shelby Corbell, Sara Beasley and Erin St. John earned a 21st-place finish.

In the girls' 13- and 14-year-old 200-yard freestyle relay, the Sting Ray squad of Morgan Watson, Alicia Riley, Lindsay Jones and Caitlin Rider earned a 16th-place finish.

The state meet capped off the 2002 season for the Sting Rays.
