Lady Bulldogs sweep Lady Cats

Ariton's long trip back home got even longer when the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs topped the visiting Lady Cats via a clean sweep in both varsity and junior varsity volleyball action Tuesday.

In the first game of the varsity match, Hope Riley served for a 4-0 lead.

The Lady Cats rallied to tie the score at 6-6 only to watch as Andalusia went back on top

when Katie Tyler and Riley each served for points.

Ariton knotted the score again at 8-8 before a sideout ended the run.

Hannah Bush took over the serving duties for the Lady Bulldogs after the rotation of players and her serves helped power Andalusia to a 13-8 lead.

Ariton would get a sideout to earn the right to serve and trim Andalusia's lead to 13-10.

Sarah Anne Wilkes had the serving honors for the Lady Bulldogs after the sideout and she came through with an ace when serving for the game point to win the first game.

The Lady Bulldogs breezed through the second game of the match earning a 15-2 lead to win the match.

Bush once again played a role in the win serving for four points in the early going. She got some help for her teammates, especially from Mary Beth Wilkes via a cross-court spike.

Mary Beth Wilkes and Kristan Champion served for three points each in the second match as the Lady Bulldogs went on top 14-2.

Andalusia then seemed to stall on offense until Riley jumped started the team with a serve to win the match.

In the junior varsity match, Andalusia won 15-4, 15-11.

In the first game, Meagan Faust served for the final six points to earn the win.

In the second game of the match, the Lady Bulldogs went on top 5-1 in the early going before bogging down. Ariton took advantage to take a 10-7 lead.

Andalusia went back on top behind quality serves by Meghan Sasser that helped the Lady Bulldogs take a 12-10 lead.

Molly Frazier closed out the match serving as the Lady Bulldogs earned a 15-11 win.
