It does not get any easier for the Florala Wildcats this week when they travel to Cottonwood for a date with the Bears in a Class 1A, Region 2 match-up. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Florala Head Coach Doug Vickery said the Wildcats continue to work hard in preparation for Friday night's game. The Wildcats are still hungry for their first win, but the Cottonwood Bears are expected to challenge the Wildcats.
"I expect another good football team," Vickery said. "They are quick, athletic and just a good football team."
Turnovers plagued the Wildcats last Friday night despite the offense's ability to move the ball against the Ariton Purple Cats.
"Not turning the ball over will be the key," Vickery said about the game against Cottonwood. "We had over 300 yards on offense and had six turnovers against Ariton.
"We moved the ball up and down the field and just couldn't punch it in," he added. "We had too many mistakes. We have to correct those mistakes."
He said the bright spots from last week's game included the play of the offensive line and the running of Mark Geohagan.
The Wildcats' defense will be tested this Friday against the Bears' talented backfield that includes a good running quarterback and two good running backs.
"They seem to be more of a ground attack team," Vickery said. "We have to do a good job of shutting those guys down."
