Bertie Mae Newby

Bertie Mae Newby, 87, of Andalusia died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 in an Enterprise nursing facility.

Funeral services were held on 2 p.m. Thursday at Keahey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home Directing.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Wiley and Elder Newby of Enterprise, Timothy and Barbara Newby, Andalusia; one daughter, Cupie Dean Jacobs of Dozier; four brothers, Vernon Odom of Lithia, Fla., Rev. Buster Odom of Red Level, Tim Odom of Andalusia and Jack Odom of Andalusia, one sister, Myrtice Phillips of Andalusia; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Wiley Lanier Newby.

Pallbearers included Robert Owens, Dale Owens, Lewis Owens, Ronald Newby, Mike Pittman and Kevin Owens.

Katie Jones

Katie Jones, age 66 of the Straughn community died Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at her residence.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Friday Sept. 6 at Keahey Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Holcomb officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. Special music was provided by the family.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Shelton Mangum of

Montgomery; mother, Elva Johnson of Andalusia; grandchildren, Joshua Wren, Jeremy Wren, Brian (Deena) Wren; a sister, Erma Jewel Hart of Denton, Texas; aunt and uncle, Corda and Johnny Johnson of Dallas.

Mrs. Jones was preceeded in death by her husband, James Thomas "Tommy" Jones earlier this year.

Pallbearers were Ed Byers, Gene Baisden, Leotis Garrett, Johnnie Davis, Michael Chaney and Bill Tillman.

Irene Norris Wiggins

Irene Norris Wiggins, 92, of Andalusia died Sunday, Sept., 8, 2002 at an Opp hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 at Foreman Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Ganus officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Babbie.

Survivors include three sons, Elbert Wiggins of Modesta, Calif., James Wiggins of Concord, Calif., Joe Wiggins (Girleen) of Opp; one daughter, Rebecca Norris (Grover) of Opp; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grand children; one brother, Paskel Norris of Florala; one sister, Ethel Adams of Opp.

She was preceded in death by Husband, Jodie Wiggins, and daughter Ellen Creel.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Clark, Sean Meeks, Cory Wiggins, Ray Davis, Jody Taylor, Wes Bryant.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Justin Taylor, Zach Tanner, Jordan Tanner, Garrett Bryant and Matthew Davis.

Joe Hill

Joe Hill, 79, of Andalusia, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002 in a Luverne hospital.

Graveside services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a son, Craig Hill of Andalusia; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike Walters of St. Augustine, Fla.; three grandchildren, Casey Walters, Chelsey Walters, and Dylon Walters; four brothers, Lister Hill, Bobby Hill, both of Andalusia, Jack Hill of Penn., and Billy Hill of Brantley; and a sister, Gladys Posey of Andalusia.

Pallbearers were Danny Posey, Gary Posey, Benny Adams, Chip Hill, Mark Hill and Kenny Hill.

Ronnie Wayne Carter, Sr.

Ronnie Wayne Carter, Sr., 56, of New Canney, Tx. formerly of Andalusia died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002 at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 at Zion Hill Cemetery with Rev. Melvin Kilpatrick officiating.

Survivors include wife, Julia Carter, New Canney, Tx.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie Wayne and Angela Carter, Jr. of New Canney, Tx., Stacy Eugene and Millicent Carter of Porter, Tx., Johnny Claude Carter of New Canney, Tx., Bary Jacob Carter of Porter, Tx.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tina Faye and Willard Baldwin of New Canney, Tx., Lisa and Brett Vermillion of Conroe, Tx.; seventeen grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas Homer Carter of Andalusia and Richard David Carter of Houston, Tx.

Pallbearers included Barry Jacob carter, Stacy Carter, Brian Carter, Sam Baldwin, Steve Carter and Tommy Carter.
