Opp robbery suspects arrested

A pair of suspects wanted in the recent robbery of a Super C Store near Opp were arrested, with one apprehended Wednesday and the other on Friday.

According to Investigator Walter Inabinett of the Covington County Sheriff's Department, the sheriff's department conducted a robbery investigation at the store, located on Highway 84 west of Opp.

On Wednesday, John Nathaniel Peters was detained in Georgia. A warrant was obtained for his arrest, and at the time of his detainment an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency that was allegedly taken in the robbery was recovered.

Friday, Peters, 22, was arrested and charged with robbery in the first degree and theft of property in the first degree and is now being held in the Covington County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

Also on Friday, Amy Long Peters, 21, was arrested in connection with the case on the charges of receiving stolen property in the first degree and hindering prosecution in the first degree. Peters is also being held at the Covington County Jail, but on a $150,000 bond

The case was handled by the Covington County Sheriff's Department and assisted by the Opp Police Department.

The case was investigated by Covington County Sheriff Investigators Elliott King and Inabinett and Nicky Carnley with the Opp Police Department, and city and county investigators and officers from Thomasville, Ga.
