Opp Lady Bobcats win tri-match

Four out of five ain't bad.
The Opp Lady Bobcat volleyball team won a tri-match against the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs and the Red Level Lady Tigers by winning four out of five games Thursday afternoon in the Opp High School gymnasium.
The Opp and Andalusia squads both posted victories against the Lady Tigers from Red Level.
Andalusia took on the Lady Tigers first and won their match 15-0 and 15-1.
The Lady Tigers then faced the Lady Bobcats and lost by a final score of 15-1 and 15-2.
The Lady Bulldogs and Lady Bobcats took the court for the final match of the afternoon and Andalusia came out fast to clinch a 15-8 win in the first game.
The Lady Bulldogs built an early 6-0 lead only to watch the Lady Bobcats battle back within two points at 7-5.
Andalusia, however, went on a run scoring four points behind a strong serving performance by Katie Tyler for an 11-5 lead.
Both teams stalled somewhat at that point with Andalusia holding a 12-8 lead after a series of sideouts.
Sarah Anne Wilkes gave Andalusia momentum with two powerful serves as the Lady Bulldogs got to game point at 14-8.
Opp, however, managed to get a sideout and stay alive. Neither team scored for the next three servers.
Kristan Champion broke through for the Lady Bulldogs with a good serve and Sarah Anne Wilkes won the point when she got to the ball for the Lady Bulldogs' third hit. Her dig cleared the net and landed in the perfect spot to win the game by a final score of 15-8.
In the second game, Opp recorded a 15-10 win.
The Lady Bobcats flew out to a 4-0 lead only to watch the Lady Bulldogs bite back to knot the score at 4-4.
Opp retook the lead 5-4, but then Andalusia built a 7-5 edge.
The Lady Bobcats battled back after falling behind 10-7.
Kayla Ziglar used her serves to get the Lady Bobcats going exchanging a 10-8 deficit for an 11-10 lead. Kim Coxwell had a spike to earn the kill on the go-ahead point.
Opp went on to record a 15-10 win with the final three points coming after serves by Tiffany Anderson. Christen Short had one kill via a spike down the stretch to help seal the win.
In the third and deciding game of the match, Opp posted a 15-4 win.
The Lady Bobcats went out in front 8-0 with Ingrid Patterson serving during a
run of six points.
Andalusia made it 8-1, but Opp added to their lead scoring two more points behind serves by Kelley Davis.
Kim Coxwell served for Opp as the Lady Bobcats extended the lead to 14-1, including an ace for the 14th point of the match.
Katie Tyler helped the Lady Bulldogs score three more points with quality serves to make the count 14-4.
Opp, however, got the win after Ashley Mock forced a mishit on one of her serves.
OPP WINS JV MATCH
In the junior varsity match between Andalusia and Opp, the Lady Bobcats recorded a win by a final score of 15-9, 14-16 and 15-5.
Opp won the first game by a final score of 15-9.
Andalusia fell behind 12-6 to the Lady Bobcats in the second game only to rally behind the serving of Meagan Faust to tie the score at 12-12.
Opp went back on top 14-12.
Meghan Sasser gave the lead back to the Lady Bulldogs when she served for three points to go on top 15-14 before Opp forced a sideout.
The Lady Bulldogs responded by forcing a sideout of their own.
Hannah Bush then served for game point and the Lady Bulldogs won 16-14.
In the third and final game of the match, the Lady Bobcats posted a 15-5 win with Opp's Jessica Wood earning game and match point with an ace.
The Andalusia teams return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 17 against Samson at 4 p.m. at Andalusia High School.
Opp's next match is Monday, Sept. 16 at Samson.
Red Level's next match is a home match against New Brockton at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
