Florida woman arrested in drug bust

A Florida woman was arrested early Sunday morning in Lockhart on drug related charges.

According to a spokesperson with the Covington County 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force, Lockhart Police Chief Jeremy Douglas was conducting a seat belt and drivers license checkpoint, when he smelled a strong odor of alcohol on the breath of a subject of a subject, 38-year-old Vivian Denise Albert of Panama City, Fla.

There was a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the car, according to the spokesperson and after permission was granted to conduct a search of the vehicle and the search was conducted, there was a discovery of marijuana and methamphetamine.

Albert was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in the second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The arrest took place around 12:15 a.m. on Sunday morning.

She was transported to the Covington County Jail and has since been released on a $16,000 bond.
