Robinson throws for record 8 TDs

Jeremy Robinson of Highland Home High School threw a state-record eight touchdown passes to move into the prep football spotlight selected by the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

A survey of football games statewide is made weekly.

The junior quarterback completed 11 of 20 passes for 214 yards and eight touchdowns in Highland Home's 81-0 win over R.C. Hatch.

The scoring passes covered 26, 23, 15, 22, 30, 23, 41 and 6 yards.

Seven players held the previous record of seven.

Other spotlight performances:

Lance Rolax of Donoho rushed 31 times for 341 yards and five touchdowns (1, 23, 16, 61 and 5 yards) in a 45-6 victory over Loachapoka.

Jamarcus Russell completed 21 of 32 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for another score in Williamson's 34-12 win over Citronelle.

Nick Cleckler of Hatton rushed for two touchdowns, passed for two scores and returned a punt for another in a 55-19 triumph over Clements.

Justin Palmer completed 24 of 42 passes for 361 yards and five touchdowns in Hamilton's 56-42 loss to Deshler.

Kenneth Howard recorded 16 tackles in Leeds' 14-0 win over Munford.

Nick Norwood of Sweet Water ran for 291 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-20 triumph over A.L. Johnson.

Antwan Curry of Talladega intercepted three passes in a 28-7 victory over Oxford.

Chris Vines completed 23 of 44 passes for 277 yards and three touchdowns in Pelham's 36-33 setback to Clay-Chalkville, led by Phillip Green's 213 yards rushing and two TDS.

Casey Stitts of Piedmont rushed for 284 yards and three touchdowns in a 30-29 setback to Crossville.

Jamaal York completed 23 of 33 passes for 308 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Blount's 31-28 loss to Fairhope.

Walker Fain of Trinity completed 9 of 19 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns and also rushed 12 times for 61 yards in a 38-7 triumph over Elmore County.

Clay Harrelson hit 15 of 26 passes for 295 yards and three touchdowns in Benjamin Russell's 27-7 victory over Valley.

Chris Suther of Homewood kicked four field goals-one a 48-yarder-in a 42-14 win over Thompson.

Eric Gomillion hit 9 of 12 passes for 212 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed six times for 109 yards in McKenzie's 49-12 triumph over Coffeeville.

Charles Johnson of Lee-Huntsville ran 40 times for 230 yards and three touchdowns in a 22-20 win over J. O. Johnson.

Dusty Goodwin completed 14 of 22 passes for 294 yards and four touchdowns in Demopolis' 33-8 victory over Holt.

Tyler Simmons and Ray Magwood of New Brockton combined for 416 yards and five touchdowns in a 40-12 win over Geneva County.

Jake Tompkins hit 22 of 30 passes for 291 yards and four touchdowns in Russellville's 42-13 triumph over Cullman.
