Lady Bobcats win tri-match

The Opp Bobcats went undefeated in high school volleyball action on Thursday winning two matches in a tri-match hosted by the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs.

Opp defeated Andalusia by holding off a late charge for a 15-12, 21-19 win and then swept the Red Level Lady Tigers 15-0, 15-0.

Andalusia rebounded from the loss to Opp to sweep the Lady Tigers 15-0, 15-2.

The game of the tri-match was the second game between the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs and the Opp Lady Bobcats.

Andalusia went on top 1-0 behind a serve by Hope Riley and then went up 2-0 when Sarah Anne Wilkes served for a point after a series of side-outs.

Opp cut the lead to 2-1, but Andalusia's Kristan Champion served for two points and a 4-1 lead.

Katie Tyler served for three points later in the match as the Lady Bulldogs built a 7-2 lead.

Riley scored another point for Andalusia and freshman Hannah Bush served for two points as the Lady Bulldogs went on top 10-2.

Andalusia needed just five more points to win the match.

Opp, however, began a rally behind the serving of Ingrid Patterson to trim Andalusia's lead to 10-5.

Kelly Davis served for a point later and then Opp's Kim Coxwell served for seven consecutive points before Andalusia called a timeout.

After the timeout, Coxwell served for one more point before a side-out ended the run.

Champion served for one point for Andalusia to make the score 14-11 and then Bush served for four consecutive points after a series of side-outs.

Bush had brought Andalusia back with the Lady Bulldogs holding a 15-14 lead.

The match, however, was a long way from being over.

The teams battled back and forth with Opp finally winning the match when Jessica Wood served for three consecutive points.

Her third point gave the Lady Bobcats a 21-19 win to clinch the match.

In junior varsity action, the JV Lady Bulldogs defeated the Red Level JV Lady Tigers 15-5, 16-14.

Andalusia returns to action next Tuesday when the Ariton Lady Purple Cats host a match.

The Lady Bobcats return to action on Monday in a match in Ozark.
