The 2002-2003 high school basketball season tips off tonight with four teams from Covington County playing in their first games.

THREE-PEAT?

The Pleasant Home Eagles have won two consecutive Class 1A State Championships and begin the 2002-2003 season on the road against the Class 4A Opp Bobcats tonight.

The B-team game is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by the girls' game and the varsity boys' game.

Pleasant Home has three starters returning from last season's championship squad, but only senior Troy Turman will dress out for the game. Chris Huckabaa and Author Coleman will both sit out the game with injuries.

Pleasant Home Head Coach Anthony Clark said Coleman's return is week-to-week with an injured hamstring muscle and Huckabaa is out until Christmas with a broken leg.

Clark said Opp had a young team last season and he expects a tough game in the season opener.

"They were young last year," Clark said. "They were coached by Michael Cassady and he did a good job. We played them twice last year and they were both good games.

"We'll have our hands full," he added.

BULLDOGS HOST GREENVILLE

The Andalusia High School basketball teams tip off the season against the Greenville Tigers tonight.

The B-team game is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by the girls' game and the varsity boys' game.

Andalusia Head Coach Richard Robertson said he has a team still trying to find itself going into the season opener.

"Nobody has stepped up and identified themselves yet," Robertson said. "We have four guys back from last season, but they were all complimentary players.

"We lost six seniors and they were the bulk of our scoring," he added. "We are in the development stage, but we are working hard at it. We are going to work hard and try to get better with every breath."

WILDCATS

FACE KINSTON

The Florala Wildcats begin the season tonight with a game against Kinston.

The B-team game is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. followed by the girls' game and the varsity boys' game.

GAME RESCHEDULED

The season opener between

the Straughn Tigers and Red Level Tigers scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled for Dec. 10.

The game was rescheduled because the Straughn football team is still alive in the Class 3A State Football Playoffs.
