Gussie Johnson Tart died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 in an Andalusia nursing facility.

Era Lee Rowell

Era Lee Rowell, 84, of Gantt died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 in an Andalusia Hospital.

Helen Jacobs Lowman

Mrs. Helen Jacobs Lowman, 88, of Dozier died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002 in a Tampa, Fla. hospital.

Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at Dozier methodist Church with Rev. Alan Cassady officiating. Burial followed in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home Directing. Special music was provided by Priscilla Kimber, pianist.

Survivors include one daughter, Gloria Culberth of Montgomery; one son and daughter-in-law, John and Nori Jacobs of Apollo Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, John Jacobs Jr. of Albany, Ga., Allison Drummond of Tampa, Fla., angel McAlister of Montgomery; sister, June Sasser of Dozier; brother, Kenneth Lowman of Dozier; a great-grandson, Jacob Reynolds McAlister of Montgomery; a number of nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Methodist Children's Home, Selma.

Pallbearers were Dan Merril, Ken Cook, Harvey Watt, Paul Dauphinee, Ericit McAlister, Gary Harris.

William Jinks Selwyn

William Jinks Selyn, 91, of Andalusia died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 in a Dothan hospital.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Kelley officiating. Burial followed in Carolina Cemetery.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Genny Selwyn and Carl Glisson of Dothan; step-daughter, Peggy and Darrell Warner of Montgomery; step-son, Eddie and Sara King of Laurel Hill, Fla., and five grand children.

Pallbearers were Tim Glisson, Jessie Brewer, Billy Kelley, Jamey Kelley, Franklin Whatley and David Selwyn.

Hubert Wesley Swanson

Hubert Wesley Swanson, 88, of Gantt died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hank Roberts officiating. Special music will be provided by Rawls Church Choir. Burial will follow in Rawls Cemetery.

Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Hubert Wesley Swanson Jr. of Baton Rouge, La., Aubrey Eugene and Joanne Swanson, Niagra Falls, NY., Hubert Elvin and Lillie Swanson, Sanborn, NY., William bradford and Pat Swanson of Youngstown, NY., James Foy andvalerie Swanson of Lewistown, NY., Helen Swanson of Scotland; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Darrell Woolery, Molly Robertson of Andalusia; Marsha Ann and David Moore of Pensacola, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Nave of Dallas, Tx.

He was preceded in death by wife, Stella Lunsford Swanson; son, David Swanson and a great-granddaughter, Susan Williams.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Foreman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Brad Swanson, Hubert Swanson, Jr. , Tim Swanson, Dean Swanson, Damon Bush, Brian Swanson, Brandon Moore.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Swanson, Chantz Robertson, Chad Robertson and Jimmy Swanson.

Robert Howard Ham

Robert Howard Ham, 73, of Andalusia, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 in a Birmingham hospital.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Faircloth officiating. Burial will follow in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James and Teresa Ham of Trussville; two grandchildren, Chelsea Ham and Christopher Ham; one brother, Carl Ham of Lexington, Ky.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Johnson Ham.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Foreman Funeral Home and at the church 30 minutes prior to services.

Mather Emory Dawkins

Mr. Mather Emory Dawkins died in Orlando, Fla.

Graveside funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include wife, Elizabeth Dawkins, Orlando, Fla.; son, Richard Dawkins, Winter Park, Fla.; daughter, Carolyn Gaines of Orlando, Fla.; sister, Berniece Woodham of Andalusia; three granddaughters.

Opal Hicks Nelson

Opal Hicks Nelson, 81, of Dothan died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lester Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will recieve friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers memorial may bemade to Milhous Memorial Fund, 134, High Street, Montgomery, Al. 36104 or First Presbyterian church, 3012 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama 36505.

Mrs. Nelson was born January 19, 1921 in DeKalb County and lived the early years of her life in Marshall County. She was employed with Vulcan Life Insurance Company and later with Mutual Savings Life Insurance. For the past 27 years she was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dothan.

Survivors include her huband, Millard C. Nelson of Dothan; a son, Dr. Carl Nelson and his wife, Vicky of Andalusia; a granddaughter, Donna Hunt and her husband, Josh, Florala; two great-grandchildren, Lane Hunt and Griffin Hunt; several nieces and nephews also survive.
