Mae Brewer Reaney
Mae Brewer Reaney, 75, of Andalusia died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 at her residence.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Gary Miller officiating.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Mark E. Reaney of Greenville, South Carolina; Michael A. and Susan Reaney of Piedmont, South Carolina; two sisters, Annie C. Adams of Andalusia and Jane Beckman of Pensacola, Fla.; many beloved nieces and nephews and two devoted friends; Mrs. Georgia L. Terry and Mrs. Mary A. Holden of Andalusia.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Comfort Care Hospice, 501 East Commerce Street, Greenville, Al, 36037.
Rev. Ben Martin
Rev. Ben Martin, 76, of Andalusia died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at an Andalusia hospital.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Miller, Rev. Earl Curenton; Rev. William Goodson officiating. Special music will be provided by Rev. Ron Patterson accompanied by Vandalyn Maddox. Burial followed at Andalusia Memorial with Air Force Military Honors.
Survivors include wife, Ovie Henley Martin of Andalusia; daughter and son-in-law, Vickie Martin and Danny Oakley of Andalusia; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jan Martin of Andalusia; grandchildren, Travis and Heidi Martin, Jason Martin, Phillip Martin and Suzanne Davis; great-grandchild, Tyler Martin; brother, Bill Martin of Andalusia; sisters, Nita Fain and Nell Riley both of Andalusia and Margaret Smithwick of Pensacola, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Robin Hope Davis.
Flowers will be accepted of donations to the Southside Baptist Church Building Fund.
Pallbearers will be Larry Sanders, Travis Sasser, Otis Whiddon, LaWayne Compton, Glenn Chambers, Van Chambers and Ricky Clark.
Hollis Orell Castleberry
Hollis Orell Castleberry, 67, of Red Level died Monday Dec. 2, 2002 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at Foreman Funeral Home with Rev. Rey Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Survivors include wife, Rosa Lee Castleberry, Red Level; one son, Randy Castleberry of Red Level; two grandchildren, Stephanie Morrow, Randall Castleberry; two step-grandchildren, Michael Grissett and Brian Grissett, two great-grandchildren, Ramsey Morrow, Sidney Morrow, one sister, Betty Huckaba of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Castleberry.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Philpot, David Knowles, Billy Ray Turner, Ronnie Curry, Mike Anderson and James Ingram.
Mozell Givens Greer
Mozell Givens Greer, 93, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002 in a Mobile nursing facility after a lengthy illness. She was a resident of Gordon Oaks Retirement Community in Mobile and prior to that a resident at Magnolia Mannor (now Savannah Terrace) here in Andalusia.
She was born in Wing, the daughter of James Alexander Givens and Rose Henley Givens. She was preceeded in death by her husband Haynes V. Greer. There were no children and the Greers resided mainly in the Valparaiso, Florida area.
Mrs. Greer had eight deceased siblings and she was the last survivor of the family. A retired teacher, she at one time taught in the River Falls School. She also taught at the Babbie School. Her husband was principal at the Babbie School.
She is survived by a brother-in-law, Don Greer, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Robert H. Givens of New Braunfels, Texas. Also surviving are 17 nieces and nephews, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be Andalusia Memorial Gardens at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002 with Rev. Joel Faircloth, Pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating.
Era Lee Rowell
Era Lee Rowell, 84, of Gantt died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 in an Andalusia Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at Keahey Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Ganus and Rev. Leonard Hill officiating. Special music was provided by Sharon Leonard, Elinor Rowell, Glenda Barnes and pianist Beverly Coon.
Burial followed in the Good Hope Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip morris and Betty Rowell, William Hiram Sr. and Lorene Rowell; daughter, Jamie Ruth Rowell and Buckwheat; daughters and sons-in-law, Estie Lee and Tommy Stuart, Martha and David Harrelson; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Era Lee Rowell was preceded in death by her husband, Avery F. Rowell.
Pallbearers were wade Harrelson, Pete Rowell, Justin Harrelson, David Smith and Jason Walden.
Roston Kenneth Lowman
Roston Kenneth Lowman, 71, of Dozier died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at Pensacola Hospital.
Graveside funeral services were held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002 at Good Hope Cemetery with Minister Jeff Grimes officiating.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jimmy Johnson of Brantley, Rosemary and John W. Bryan of Rose Hill; four grandchildren, Tamberli (Steven) Bozeman of Elba, Kathryn (Shawn) Canant of Andalusia, Steven (Lisa) Johnson of Dozier, Candace (Michael) Strickland of Brantley; four great-grandchildren, Laken Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Leanna Johnson, Mary Elizabeth Strickland; one sister, June (Tebe) Sasser of Dozier.
In lieu of flowers, rememberances may be made to the Methodist Children's Home in Selma.
