Ira Mae Johnson
Ira Mae Johnson, 87, of Andalusia died Monday, March 3, 2003 at a local nursing home.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Boles officiating. Special music was provided by the family. Burial followed in the Adellum Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing
Survivors include a sister, Opal Dibenedetto of Ill.; step daughters, Sharon Wesson of Opelika and Jeanette Riley of Andalusia; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Curry, Chris Curry, Jason Nall, Eugene Nall, Ray Worley and Robert Lyons
Charles Teasley Russell
Charles Teasley Russell, 84, of Andalusia died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 in an Andalusia hosptial.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Russell of Andalusia; four daughters, Ophelia Merrill of Dozier, Lillian Lea Russell of Andalusia; Jeanette Stacy of Andalusia; Peggy Williamson of Andalusia; two sons, Ray Russell of Andalusia and Tracy Russell of Andalusia; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steve Merrill, Sam Merrill, Curtis Russell, William Williamson, Scott Price, Randy Russell, Dan Richardson and John Self.
Wanda Harrison
Wanda Harrison, 80, of Andalusia died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 in an Andalusia hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Home Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas E. Harrison of Andalusia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Toni and Billy Douglas of Andalusia and Ginger Spaulding and Tomas Hitson of Jacksonville, Fla.; one sister, Yvonne Ray of Daleville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and "Samson" her beloved dog.
She was preceded in death by her son, William Scobell.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Christian Service Center or to Southside Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Billy Douglas, Tommy Hitson, James Varner, Newton Hoskins, Donald Maddox and Skip Kirk.
Honorary pallbearers were Fran Forster, Wanda Clark, Katurah Walker, Linda Bush, Margaret Foley, Vannie Fuller and Carol Attisano.
Willard Herschel "Tobe" Kelley
Willard Herschel "Tobe" Kelley, 66, of Florala died Monday, March 3, 2003 at his residence.
He was a 1954 graduate of Covington County High School and later served in the United States Air Force. He was employed with Lockhart Lumber Company from September 1960 until his retirement from the Louisiana-Pacific Corporation in August, 1999. During his employment, he served as office manager, maintenance supervisor and sawmill foreman.
He was a lifetime member of Red Oak Baptist Church and served in many capacities including deacon, teacher, treasurer, Sunday school and church training director through the years. He served on the Board of Trustees for W.S. Harlan School and the Florala High School. He was vice-chairman of the Board of Directors and Secretary of the Red Oak Volunteer Fire Department. He also assisted with procuring a county water system for the Red Oak Community.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Red Oak Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Red Oak Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Willene Maddox Kelley of Florala; two daughters, Valerie Anderson and Samantha McDaniel, both of Florala; one son Stanton L. Kelley of Montgomery; six grandchildren, John Curtis Anderson, Emory Anderson, Cameron Kelley, Ellis McDaniel, Lily McDaniel, Caleb Kelley; three brothers, Earl Kelley of New Jersey, Donal Kelley of Glen Cove Springs, Fla., Byrous Kelley of Toledo, Iowa; two sisters, Loette Townsend of Andalusia; Mary Terry of Evergreen and a number of nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Relay for Life.
Frederick H. Schmidt
Lt. Col. (Retired) Frederick H. Schmidt, 80, of Andalusia died, Sunday, March 2, 2003 at his residence.
He graduated from North Carolina State, served with the 8th Air Force in Europe during World War II and worked with the Bayer Company for 29 years. He was a member to Bethany Baptist Church, the Civitan Club and the American Legion.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Keahey Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Holcomb officiating. Special music was provided by the family. Burial followed in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.
He is survived by his wife Joy, two grandchildren, Buffie Denson and Wayne Cole, two great-grandchildren, Katie and Cole Denson; one brother, Robert Schmidt; one sister, Barbara Mebane; three step-sons, Ray Lockhart and John Lockhart and Don Hassell; two step-daughters, Carol Sasser and Kay Little.
The family suggests a donation to the building fund at Bethany Baptist Church or to the charity of your choice.
Pallbearers were James Stearns, James Andrews, J.T. Raley, Bill Tillman, Jerome Smith and Roy Weaver.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Andalusia Civitan Club and the American Legion.
Lallah C. Waite
Lallah C. Waite, 85, of Andalusia died Sunday, March 2, 2003 in an Andalusia hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Judd Stinson officiating and burial following in the Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Stephanie Waite of Andalusia; one daughter, Carole Wright of Montgomery; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church building fund.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Collins, Jimmy Waite, Robert Waite, Corey Goltz, Trevor Waite, Casey Waite and Mark Prebe.
Bonnie Rowell Easley
Bonnie Rowell Easley, 89, of Andalusia died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 in an Andalusia hospital.
Mrs. Easley was a member of East Highland Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2003 at Foreman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Drexal Copeland, Rev. Ed Ganus and Rev. Lavon Burke officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
Survivors include four step-daughters, Louise Wigle, Mary Miles, Carrie Gilmore and Estelle Scroggins, all of Andalusia; one step-son, Herman Easley of Andalusia; 23 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be after 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Foreman Funeral Home.
The family will meet at 125 McRainey Loop.
Pallbearers will be Tinker Sirmon, Billy Barbaree, Ray Miles, Eddie Rowell, Wade Harrelson and Dewayne Scroggins.
Florine Wallace
Florine Wallace, 84, of Andalusia died Tuesday, March 4, 2003 in Memphis, Tenn. hospital.
