Bulldogs extend winning streak

Three in a row is how many games the Andalusia Bulldogs have won on the baseball diamond.

The Bulldogs built on their success over the weekend with wins against Crestview and Opp with a 10-0 win against the visiting Hillcrest Jaguars in an area game Monday.

The Bulldogs won the game in five innings via the 10-run "mercy" rule.

The Bulldogs went on the scoreboard first in the second inning after a scoreless first inning.

Jake Hollingsworth cranked out a solo home run to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.

Andrew Harry and Neal Patterson added two runs in the bottom of the third inning. Harry reached on a

walk and scored on Patterson's RBI-double. Patterson scored on a RBI-double by Trevor Mathews.

Cole Sight-ler, Jacob McCullough and Harry scored in the bottom of the fourth inning for the Bulldogs. Harry sent one run when he drew a walk. Sightler scored on a balk. Two runs scored when Mathews reached on an error by the shortstop.

The Bulldogs put the game away in the bottom of the fifth inning when Tyler Wilson, Sightler and McCullough scored. McCullough and Harry had RBI hits in the inning.

Wilson was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs. He pitched five innings of shut out baseball allowing just two hits and two walks. He struck out 10.

The area win came after a 2-0 record on Saturday.

The Bulldogs started Saturday with a win against the Crestview Bulldogs by a final score of 8-4.

Will Cammack was the winning pitcher allowing two runs on six hits. He struck out three.

Mathews and Wilson scored in the first inning to give the Bulldogs an early lead. Hollingsworth had a RBI-single in the inning.

Michael Dutton scored in the second inning for Andalusia to increase the lead to 3-0. Mathews had a RBI-single.

Sightler, McCullough and Harry scored in the bottom of the third inning for Andalusia. Dutton and Patterson had RBI hits in the inning. A run also scored when Mathews reached on an error.

Dutton and Patterson scored in the fifth inning. Hollings-worth had a two-RBI single to plate the final runs of the game.

Crestview faced Opp after falling to Andalusia and came up short against the Bobcats by a final score of 4-3.

Opp went on top 1-0 in the first inning when Josh Anderson scored.

After falling behind 2-1 in the second, Opp rebounded with three runs in the third inning and held on for a 4-3 win.

Jason Stanley, Daniel Coleman and Heath Williamson scored in the top of the third inning for Opp.

Holt Parker was the winning pitcher allowing three runs on six hits and two walks during five innings of work. He struck out five.

Andalusia and Opp faced off the final game of Saturday's round-robin action. Andalusia ended the day with a 5-4 win against their biggest rivals.

Mathews and Wall scored in the bottom of the third inning to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. Wilson had a two-RBI single in the frame.

The Bulldogs added three runs in bottom of the fifth for a 5-0 lead.

Wall had a solo home run in the inning. Wilson reached on a double and scored on an error later in the inning. Harry reached base on a fielder's choice and came around to score. Cammack had a sacrifice fly in the inning.

Opp's scored four runs in the top of sixth when Anderson, Drew Mims, Williamson and Lane Fuller rounded the bases.

Andalusia, however, held on for a 5-4 win. Wall was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs.
