Lady Eagles finish third at tourney

Out of the four teams from Covington County, the Class 1A Pleasant Home Lady Eagles fared the best in the Andalusia Invitational Tournament over the weekend.
The Lady Eagles earned a third place finish with the only two losses coming at the hands of the eventual champion and runner-up in Division I of the tournament.
The Lady Eagles began the tournament with a 12-3 victory against Goshen.
In their second game, the Lady Eagles fell to Elba by one run. Elba edged past the Lady Eagles 3-2.
Pleasant Home battled its way to the semifinals out of the loser's bracket with an 11-1 win against Kinston in five innings followed by a 15-6 win over Flomaton.
The Lady Eagles fell to Samson in the semifinal game by a final score of 10-4. Pleasant Home was winning 4-3 after four innings of play, but Samson rallied for seven runs in the fifth inning. Pleasant Home's runs came from Brittney Blount, Salynn Mullen, Faith Gunter and Kelley.
Samson fell to Elba in the championship game 8-1.
The Straughn Lady Tigers went 1-2 at the tournament. The lone win came against the Charles Henderson JV squad by a score of 11-9.
The Florala Lady Wildcats went 0-2 at the tournament.
In the Division II bracket of the tournament, the Andalusia Lady Bulldogs went 0-2 falling to Greenville and Dothan.
Escambia County won Division II of the tournament outscoring its opponents 19-2 in four games. The Lady Devils did not give up more than one run in a game.
Dothan finished in second followed by the Charles Henderson Lady Trojans.
