Two teams that have won 13 state championships in golf during the past 11 years competed against the Andalusia Bulldogs at the Class 4A, Section Golf Tournament at TimberCreek Golf Course in Mobile.

The Bulldogs had two golfers post scores among the top five to finish second as a team and qualify for the Class 4A State Tournament set to be held May 12-13 on the Falls Course at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Grove Course in Mobile.

Andalusia freshman Rodger Caffey had the third best score at the sectional tournament with a 72 to pace the Bulldogs.

Mark Chambers had the fourth best score with a round of 76. Michael Frye added an 80 and David Kyle scored an 83 for Andalusia.

The Bulldogs' team score of 311 was good enough for second-place honors behind the UMS-Wright Bulldogs.

UMS-Wright, which has won 11 consecutive state championships, posted a score of 296.

Gulf Shores, who won the last two state championships in Class 3A before moving up this year, finished in third place with a team score of 314.

The two best scores of the sectional tournament were posted by UMS-Wright golfers. The best score was a round of 67 and the second-best was a score of 71.
