Saints improve to 37-16 on the season

The LBW Community College baseball team swept Alabama Southern on Tuesday to improve to 37-16 overall and 17-5 in conference play. The Saints remain in first place in their division with their 17-5 conference mark.

The week began witha

doubleheader against the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks in Brewton on Sunday. The game was scheduled for Saturday but rescheduled due to heavy rains late last week.

The Saints won the first game of the doubleheader against JDCC by a final score of 10-6.

Right-handed pitcher Mike Koppersmith got the win with Chris Copeland picking up the save.

Josh Terrell was 3-for-5 in the game with four RBIs and one runs scored. He hit a two-run home run in the win.

Bryan "Smoke" Mosley was 2-for-2 in the win with two runs scored. Chase Amis also scored two runs in the game.

Ryan Mitchell was 1-for-3 in the first game with two RBIs. David Williamson was 1-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Jordan Mills and Jonathan Rasberry each scored one run in the victory.

In the second game against the Warhawks, the Saints fell by a final score of 7-6 with JDCC getting the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

David Ezell had a big game for the Saints in the loss going 1-for-3 at the plate with a three run home run. Rasberry was 1-for-3 and scored two runs in the loss. Amis, Mills and Austin Stein scored one run each.

The doubleheader against Alabama Southern on Tuesday was a clean sweep for the Saints.

Jonathan Kendrick pitched a complete game in the first contest to get the win. He allowed one run on seven hits and no walks. He struck out three.

Mosley and Terrell each had a home run in the win. Mosley ended the game 1-for-4 at the plate with one run scored and one RBI. Terrell went 2-for-3 with one run scored and two RBIs.

Jake Wells was 1-for-3 with two RBIs in the win. Mitchell, Amis, Rasberry and Ezell each scored one run. Stein scored twice.

In the second game, the Saints won by a final score of 11-6. Mosley had a huge game going 4-for-4 at the dish with two runs scored and two RBIs.

Mitchell was 1-for-3 at the plate with one run scored and two RBIs. He hit a two-run homer in the game.

Terrell and Stein scored two runs each. Mills, Williamson, Rasberry and Ezell each scored one run.

The Saints return to the diamond Friday when they host Faulkner State at 2 p.m.

The final contest of the regular season will be a doubleheader at Enterprise State on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
