Red Level tops McKenzie, 20-11

In a wild game, the Red Level Lady Tigers earned a 20-11 win against the visiting McKenzie Lady Tigers in high school softball action Thursday.

Red Level went on top 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning when Randi Coleman and Brittany Watson scored.

After holding McKenzie scoreless in the top of the second inning, Red Level added five more runs for a 7-0 lead. Kayla Holcomb, Heather Clelland, Brittany Watson, Victoria Ferrell and Daphne Crittenden scored in the second inning for Red Level.

McKenzie scored four runs in the top of the third inning.

Red Level answered with six runs in the bottom of the third when Holcomb, Clelland, Coleman, Watson, Ferrell and Crittenden scored for a 13-4 lead..

McKenzie had a big inning in the fourth scoring six runs to get within three of Red Level at 13-10.

Red Level failed to score in the fourth, but added two runs in the fifth for a 15-10 lead when Ferrell and Crittenden scored.

McKenzie managed to score one run in the top of the sixth inning to cut Red Level's lead to 15-11.

In the bottom of the sixth, Red Level pushed five runs across the plate for a 20-11 lead.

Kristan Steele, Coleman, Watson, Ferrell and Tiffany Gaines each scored in the sixth inning for Red Level.

The Lady Tigers took the field in the top of the seventh and sat down the McKenzie Lady Tigers without giving up another run for a 20-11 win.

The Red Level Lady Tigers return to action today when they travel to Highland Home for the Class 2A, Section 3 Tournament. The Lady Tigers play the Marbury Lady Bears at 4:30 p.m.
