Spring football ended for the Red Level Tigers last Friday at a football jamboree hosted by Georgiana High School.

The Tigers fell to the Greenville Tigers 6-0 in one half of gridiron battle.

In the second half, the Red Level Tigers played the host Georgiana Panthers. Red Level scored one touchdown and tacked on a two-point conversion. The Panthers, however, managed to score two touchdowns for a 12-8 win.

Red Level's points came on two plays.

Princeton Ryce scored a touchdown on a seven-yard run. His touchdown run on a toss sweep set the scene for the Tigers' next two points.

Red Level quarterback Russell Rigdon found Dusty Lee for a two-point conversion on a passing play.

Red Level Head Football Coach Tim Grimes said he was proud of the effort put forth by his players at the jamboree.

"We played hard," Grimes said.

He also pointed out that all of the Tigers saw playing time during the jamboree.

"We took 46 players and we played all of them," Grimes said. "We were running everybody in and out of the game. We wanted to see who would go out there and get after some people."

Overall, Grimes was pleased with the effort of his players. He did, however, say the Tigers need some more aggressive offensive linemen.

The Tigers did not have a strength or weakness when it came to offense or defense, Grimes added.

"Our leadership was our strength," Grimes said.

He was particularly impressed with the play of his Tigers against a Greenville squad that topped Georgiana by a final score of 20-0.

The Greenville Tigers' touchdown against Red Level came on a play that was well defended, Grimes pointed out.

"Greenville scored on fourth-and-goal from the 15-yard-line," Grimes said. "Our defensive back (Jermaine Jackson) was in good defensive position. They just made a great throw and a great catch," Grimes said.
