The Red Level Police Department, with the cooperation of other assisting law enforcement officers, recently arrested three persons on drug related charges.

According to Red Level Police Chief David Anderson, on May 16, he and Officer Jeff Daniel made a traffic stop on a green Chrysler Concord with a Florida tag on County Road 107 at about 7:30 p.m.

Anderson said the car was driven by its owner, Richard L. Delpozo, 18, of Crestview, Fla.

Also in the car was Gordon C. Hall Jr., 34, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and Hall's brother, Steven Hall, 27, of Lafayette, Ga.

Anderson said the subjects in the vehicle were acting nervously, and during the stop it was

clearly noticed that Gordon Hall had a bag containing a green leafy substance in his front pocket.

Daniel asked him to step outside the car, and a bag containing marijuana was produced and a smoking device was discovered in the rear seat.

Delpozo was asked for and he granted consent for officers to search the vehicle.

During the search, marijuana was found in the driver's door panel and rolling papers and smoking devices were also found.

Anderson said the front passenger also was in possession of marijuana and a smoking device.

All three persons were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana in the second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They were taken to the Covington County Jail where their bonds were set at $1,000 per charge.

They have since been released.

Anderson said he wished to express his appreciation to agencies who assisted in the effort including Chris Byrd of the Andalusia K-9 Unit and his K-9 partner Koala, the Covington County Sheriff's Department and the Alabama State Troopers.
