Mary Frances Butts

Mary Frances Butts, of Andalusia, died Friday, May 23, 2003, in a Dothan hospital.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Monday, May 26, 2003 at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Ganus officiating. Special music was provided by the family. Burial followed in the Selma Baptist Church Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include mother, Martha Mancil Stearns, husband, James G. Butts of Samson; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen DeWayne and Mary Eleizabeth Kelley of Florida; son, John Jason Butts of Samson, daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Elizabeth and Lamar Kendrick of Andalusia, Kimberly Charlene and Troy Lavon Douglas of Kinston, Karen Lynn and Darrell Ziglar of Babbie; two brothers, James Monroe Stearn of Texas, Billy Ray Stearns of Andalusia; nine grandchildren, Charles David Batson, LaTasha Nicole Boyette, Shannon Denise Batson, Jana Cheri Douglas, Heather Michelle Kelley, Ashley Nicole Kelley, Anna Elizabeth Kendrick, William Troy Douglas and Ashton Noel Ziglar; one great-grandson, Ethan Ray Batson; one niece, LeAnne Stearns of Andalusia.

Pallbearers included Charles Batson, Jeff Owens, Kenny Owens, Jesse Norman, Jeremy Driggers and Timmy Hendrick.

Roland A. Chambless

Roland A. Chambless, 51 of Mississippi, formerly of Andalusia, died Friday, May 23, 2003, in Mississippi.

Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 26, 2003 at Andalusia Memorial Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing with Rev. Jere Hendricks officiating.

Survivors include a brother, Bennie Joe Chambless of Sasser, Miss.; three sisters, Judith Ann Heard of Dequincy, La., Teresa Dianne McPherson of Freeport, Fla., Cecelia Sue Crawford, Houma, La.; numerous nieces and nephews, great neices and nephews.

Mr. Roland Amos Chambless was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Susie Chambless, and his brother, Jimmy Charles Chambless.

Pallbearers included Michael Crawford Jr., Benny Chambless Jr., Gerald Wood Jr., Johnny Williams, Ricky McPherson and Paul Whatley.

Joe Armstrong

Joe Armstrong, 69, of Andalusia, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Keahey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Freeman officiating. Special music was provided by the family. Burial followed in Stone Lake Garden Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta Armstrong of Andalusia; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Armstrong Johnson and Kenneth Johnson of Florala; brother and sister-in-law, Rufus and Marie Armstrong of Andalusia; sister, Eleanor Fuller of Sprout; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Lamar Whittle of Andalusia; grandchildren, Jody Armstrong, Melony Armstrong, Josh Johnson, Lori Beth Johnson and Amber Armstrong.

Mr. Joe Armstrong was preceded in death by his son, Melvin Joe Armstrong, Jr. in 1997 and a brother, Pete Armstrong.

Pallbearers included Ward Armstrong, Scott Armstrong, Jackie Whittle, Jimmy Brogden, Leon Mitchell and John Still.

Ruby Jackson

Ruby Jackson, 64, of the Straughn Community died Friday, May 23, 2003 at her residence.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the New Providence Nazarene Church in Antioch with Rev. John Shipman officiating and burial in the church cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Robert A. Jackson of Andalusia; a daughter, Cindy Murphy of Rose Hill and two sons, Mark Merritt of Hawaii and Lonnie Merritt of Bolling Green, Ky.; two step-daughters, Debbie Jackson of Indianapolis, Ind. and Treesa Jarvis of Knightstown, Ind. and two step-sons, Steve Jackson of Carthage, Ind. and Jimmy Jackson of New Castle, Ind.; 17 grandchildren, four great-greatchildren; two brothers, Harold Globe of North Carolina and John Globe of Knightstown, Ind. and a sister, Phyllis Butcher of Shirley, Ind.

Pallbearers will include Reaford Daughtery, Bill Henry, Jim Marley, Robert Canant, Ronnie Canant and Kenneth Canant.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Madison Danielle Sutton

Madison Danielle Sutton, the infant daughter of Jessica Danielle Grooms and Tommy Jason Sutton, died Sunday, May 25, 2003 in the Andaluisa Hospital.

Graveside funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Stone Lake Gardens Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include paternal grandparents, Tommy Joe and Angie Sutton of Andalusia; maternal grandparents, Marilyn and Thomas Fowler of Andalusia and David and Jan Grooms of Andalusia; aunts and uncles, Andy and Katrina Harris of Andalusia, Chris and Karen Dubose of Andalusia.

Ouida Elnora Clark Boysen

Ouida Elnora Clark Boysen, age 83, of Montgomery, died May 26, 2003, at

Crowne Health Center.

The family would like to thank the employees of Crowne for their dedication, kindness, and loving care for their mother.

Born January 13, 1920 near Andalusia, Alabama, Ouida was the oldest child of John Henry and Erie (Williams) Clark. On September 3, 1943, she married Robert Lind Boysen, of Battle Creek, Iowa, in Williamsburg, Virginia, while Bob was on shore leave during the war.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 29 at Leak Memory Chapel at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 28 from 5-7 PM.

Survivors include her five children: Anne (Jim) Groom, Nancy (John) Schrull, Beverly (George) Vinson, John Robert (Jane) Boysen, and Stanley (Denise) Boysen; five grandchildren: Chris (Stephanie) Boysen, Susan (Tony) Griffies, Lisa Woodruff, and Jonathan and Taylor Boysen; two great-grandchildren: Chandler and Evan Boysen; five step-grandchildren: David, Daniel and Jill Vinson, and Jennifer and Kory Russell.

Also surviving are her brother, John Henry (Sue) Clark, brother-in-law Donald Boysen, and sister-in-law, Faye Clark.

There are six nieces and nephews and five great nieces and nephews.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and had a large, close extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob of 47 years in 1991, sister Doris Clark Boysen in 1993, and two-year-old grandson, Matthew Drake Boysen in 1984.

Betty Jean Wise Moore

Betty Jean Wise Moore, 69, of Andalusia died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Tursday, May 29, 2003 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Andalusia with Rev. Joel Faircloth and Rev. Don Lingle officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Morgan Moore of Andalusia; two daughters, Sandra Kay Moore of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Linda and husband Dan Neff of Hinckley, Maine; one son, Rev. Michael Moore and his wife Miriam of Woodstock, Va.; three grandchildren, Mandy Elizabeth Moore, Mallory Grace Moore, and Daniel E. Neff II.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe J. Wise of Kinston. She was a graduate of Kinston High School and the University of Alabama with a BA degree in Hospital Dietetics. Mrs. Moore worked at both hospitals and the nursing home here in Andalusia for many years as a consultant dietician. Mrs. Moore also owned a catering business in Andalusia from 1980 until 1995.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Vance Moore, Dr. Alan Moore, Jimmy Moore, Blair Moore, Larry Petereman, George Bender, Terry Morgan and Buddy Austin.

Visitation will be at 5:30 Wednesday at Foreman Funeral Home and at the church 30 minutes prior to services. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church

Memorial Fund.
