Ruby Jackson

Ruby Jackson, 64, of the Straughn Community died Friday, May 23, 2003 at her residence.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the New Providence Church of the Nazarene in Antioch with Rev. John Shipman officiating and burial in the church cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Robert A. Jackson of Andalusia; a daughter, Cindy Murphy of Rose Hill and two sons, Mark Merritt of Hawaii and Lonnie Merritt of Bolling Green, Ky.; two step-daughters, Debbie Jackson of Indianapolis, Ind. and Treesa Jarvis of Knightstown, Ind. and two step-sons, Steve Jackson of Carthage, Ind. and Jimmy Jackson of New Castle, Ind.; 17 grandchildren, four great-greatchildren; two brothers, Harold Globe of North Carolina and John Globe of Knightstown, Ind. and a sister, Phyllis Butcher of Shirley, Ind.

Pallbearers will include Reaford Daughtery, Bill Henry, Jim Marley, Robert Canant, Ronnie Canant and Kenneth Canant.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Betty Jean Wise Moore

Betty Jean Wise Moore, 69, of Andalusia died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 in a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Andalusia with Rev. Joel Faircloth and Rev. Don Lingle officiating.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Morgan Moore of Andalusia; two daughters, Sandra Kay Moore of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Linda and husband Dan Neff of Hinckley, Maine; one son, Rev. Michael Moore and his wife Miriam of Woodstock, Va.; three grandchildren, Mandy Elizabeth Moore, Mallory Grace Moore, and Daniel E. Neff

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe J. Wise of Kinston. She was a graduate of Kinston High School and the University of Alabama with a BA degree in Hospital Dietetics. Mrs. Moore worked at both hospitals and the nursing home here in Andalusia for many years as a consultant dietician. Mrs. Moore also owned a catering business in Andalusia from 1980 until 1995.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Vance Moore, Dr. Alan Moore, Jimmy Moore, Blair Moore, Larry Petereman, George Bender, Terry Morgan and Buddy Austin.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church

Memorial Fund.

George W. Pittman

George W. Pittman, 84, of Red Level, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2003 at the South Church of God. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to services.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 29, 2003 at Keahey Funeral Home.

Survivors include wife, Eunice Odom Pittman of Red Level; sons and daughters-in-law, Dearl and Mary A. Pittman, Crestview, Fla. and Gerald and Lynda Pittman

of Red Level; daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Robert Kirkland, McKenzie; daughter, Agnes Griggs of Red Level; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Bryan Griggs and Timothy Bringhurst.
