Junior golfers are invited to tee it up at the Evans Barnes Golf Course as members of a new league.

The Evans Barnes Junior Golf League features weekly nine-hole events with golfers flighted according to their ability level. League play will be on Wednesday of each week beginning June 11. The final event of the league will be a tournament and luncheon on Wednesday, July 23. No golf will be played the week of the Fourth of July.

The league is open to male and female golfers ages 8 to 16 who have a knowledge of the game and the ability to play one round of golf by themselves.

Golfers interested in participating in the league may register

at Evans Barnes Golf Course through June 9. Registration will be held during regular business hours in the pro shop at the golf course.

There is a $50 registration fee which includes entry fees for the weekly tournaments, greens fees, tournament prizes and lunch.

At the time of registration, each child must have an adult sign up to be a scorekeeper for one round of the six-week session. The adult will walk nine holes with one of the foursomes participating in the tournament. The adult will serve as a marshall to make sure the game is played correctly.

The league is a junior league because it is intended for children ages 8 to 16 who know how to play golf. The league is not for inexperienced golfers. Children who wish to join the league must have enough skill and knowledge of the game to play a round of golf.

Members of the Evans Barnes Junior League will be expected to act like golfers by observing the rules and etiquette of the game.
