AHS shines at NCA camp

Cheerleading has come a long way and is now a sport student-athletes must for train year-round to stay in shape and perfect the latest stunts, dance steps and cheers.
The Andalusia High School varsity cheerleaders recently attended a National Cheerleading Association (NCA) summer camp on the campus of Auburn University to remain on the cutting edge when it comes to the latest in cheerleading.
The cheerleaders were at the camp from June 2 through June 5 during which time they learned all the latest moves and chants.
The members of the AHS squad received an excellent rating for their "home cheer" and a superior rating for camp chant and cheer.
The members of the Andalusia High School varsity cheerleading squad are Captain Tanesha Freeman, Captain Kala Rodgers, Brandy Burns, Carrie Smith, Laura Ashley Ingram, Stephanie Nall, Alexa Puckett, Katie Howell, Anna Ricks, Asia Carter, Lisa Hudson, Latoya Grandison, Whitney Walsingham, Caroline Taylor, Kristen Kerr, Trieka Crittenden, Courtney Bass and Tawona Grandison.
Six members of the AHS squad were nominated for All-American Cheerleader honors at the camp. The AHS cheerleaders nominated were Tanesha Freeman, Laura Ashley Ingram, Katie Howell, Stephanie Nall, Tawona Grandison and Asia Carter.
Both Katie Howell and Stephanie Nall were named to the NCA All-American Cheerleading Team at the summer camp.
