Baseball tournaments begin soon

Youth baseball action continues with district tournaments this summer - beginning this weekend.

BABE RUTH

The 13-year-old Babe Ruth District Tournament begins Thursday at Straughn High School when the Andalusia All-Stars face the Covington County All-Stars at 5:30 p.m. The winner faces Opp at 8 p.m. on Friday. The loser plays at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The 14-year-old Babe Ruth District Tournament also begins Thursday at Straughn High School when the Andalusia All-Stars face the Covington County All-Stars at 8 p.m. The winner faces Opp at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 28. The loser plays at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The 15-year-old Babe Ruth District Tournament begins Friday at Straughn High School when Andalusia battles Covington County at 5:30 p.m. The winner faces Opp at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The loser plays at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

LITTLE LEAGUE

The Little League Baseball Alabama 9- and 10-year-old Tournament

District 5 begins Saturday in Brewton.

Three teams from Covington County will participate in the tournament. The Andalusia Little League All-Stars, the Covington County Little League All-Stars and the Opp Little League All-Stars will all be in action at the tournament. The Brewton, East Brewton and Evergreen teams will also be competing for a District 5 Championship.

The games begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the YMCA Baseball Fields in Brewton when the Opp All-Stars face the Andalusia All-Stars. The winner advances to play the East Brewton All-Stars at 8 p.m. on Sunday. The loser falls to the loser's bracket for a 6 p.m. game on Monday.

The Covington County All-Stars play in the second game on Saturday. Covington County will face Brewton at 8 p.m. The winner will advance to play Evergreen at 6 p.m. on Sunday. The loser will fall into the loser's bracket for an 8 p.m. game on Monday.

The tournament continues through Thursday, July 3 with a

championship game set for 7 p.m. The "if game" is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday, July 4 at 7 p.m.

The 11- and 12-year-old Alabama District 5 Tournament is also being held in Brewton beginning Saturday, July 5 with games at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
