Andalusia Police were called to a wooded area off of Prestwood Bridge Road around 12:30 p.m., Friday in response to a resident out walking that hade reported to have found a human body.

Andalusia officers responded to the scene and discovered the skeletal remains of an adult human at the location. According to a release from the Andalusia Police, the remains have been turned over to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for a post mortem examination to determine cause of death and the identity of the remains.

It was not known as of press time if the remains were that of a man or woman and investigators can not say until a complete forensics exam is conducted.

The case is under investigation by the Andalusia Police Department and more information will be released as details become available.
